Senior Moment or Senior AaaaHaaa!

Most of you know I’m an advocate of incorporating Virgin Coconut Oil into our diets. It occurred to me recently that since I’ve been having just a teaspoon in my oatmeal in the morning, I have less “senior moments”… you may be aware of what those senior moments are – it’s when you know that you know something, but you have difficulty pulling the information into the recall area of your brain. Like that name of an old friend, or that item you needed from the market, or even where you left your car keys. You may or may not be aware that as a SimplyHealedTM Practitioner, I use techniques to plug the vibration of whatever you need into your energy. Often, it feels as if you have truly received the tangible thing. However, you would never just stop eating because we can just plug in the vibration of food, right? (though it has helped in a pinch for me occasionally) But seriously, we need good nutrition, and when our cells begin resisting glucose, the only other way we can feed our brain is with medium chain triglyceride oil, or coconut oil. Did you know that coconut oil is also good for digestion and has the perfect 3:1 ratio of Omegas? It’s time to embrace this wonderful food! Your brain will love you for it!

  1. I need to get some coconut oil.. I use it on my hair… Maybe I’ll try adding it to my oatmeal too… need all the help I can get when it comes to memory. HA

  2. I’m a major advocate of the Organic Coconut Oil. I don’t put it in my oatmeal… I don’t know that I could handle eating that oil but I cook with it, bake with it and use all over and for cosmetics and healing! Great post!

    • It actually took me awhile before I could put it in my oats. I don’t use a lot, just a little. I actually prefer not to use a lot of oil in my food, just a little bit. We also use it in the place of butter.

  3. I love cooking with coconut oil! I really don’t find it has a strong flavor at all. I use it in place of shortening, in place of any oil, or just add it to stuff. I like using it with herbs and roasting vegetables. I like it in cookies and cakes. Using it in cooking or baking, I really don’t think most people would even notice it. I also like using it in my hair and on my skin. Great stuff!

  4. My doctor was telling me that coconut oil was very healthy for you and that I should start using it when I cook. Have you tried cooking with it yet? Can you taste the coconut flavor, my husband doesn’t care for coconut so I need to think about him while cooking too? 🙂

    • Hi Christy,
I use coconut oil exclusively in my cooking and preparing of foods. At first I was the one who didn’t care for the flavor… but that has passed. I used half coconut and half olive oil at first. Eggs and potatoes are the best! Now I mix a teaspoon into my oatmeal and really enjoy it. Hope that helps!

  5. I love coconut oil in oatmeal. It adds such a lovely flavor, and I find that I really don’t miss sweeteners when I use it. Great to know it’s doing good things for my brain too.

  6. Coconut oil is great for cooking sweet potatoes or Japanese Yams plus any baked items. I wish I could eat it – I’m allergic to all forms of coconut! But yes, our brains are composed mostly of fat (phospolipids) so keeping things lubricated with healthier choice oils like omega 3’s and coconut oil (all used sparingly since all oils come in around 125 cal/tablespoon – that adds up quickly) so using a tsp for your morning cereal is just enough to reap the benefits. Thanks for sharing your morning routine Loretta!
