Halloween and Healthy… aren’t they opposites?
Since we strive all year to teach our family how important it is to avoid sugar, what do we do at Halloween time??? WE FIND RECIPES TO REPLACE THE GARBAGE!
Paleo Recipes to the rescue!
Last year I was thrilled to find “The Paleo Kid’s Halloween: 15 Delicious Halloween Candies and Treats”. (I have it listed in my recommendations at the lower right. The treats are both healthy and delicious!I made Chocolate covered Marshmellows and Almond Butter Cups last year.
Check out This Year!
This year I made the marshmellows again by request, and the butter cups, but also included a new recipe I found this year… Healthy Snickers bars!
Just look at that yumminess! I especially enjoy the chocolate covered fingers giving the thumbs up!
It’s our hope that the boys will enjoy these treats more than the junky garbage they receive while trick or treating. They also are encouraged to bring their Halloween candy home, and if they don’t eat any of it, their mom buys it off of them. They just love this and love getting to buy something in place of all that sugar.
So, if you’re like us and have wonderful memories of Halloween and trick-or-treating, but don’t want your kids to have all that sugar or the health issues that come from it, consider making your own! It’s easy and FUN!!! Makes for a great tradition!!! Oh, and by the way… we won’t be handing out candy this year. Sorry kids… Geoff & I will be hiding in our bedroom, watching movies and eating our goodies!
I encourage you…
to try something new, or different… you may be so glad you did! Happy Halloween my friends!
Oh YUM!!!!!! I want to be at your home tonight. All I have are snicker bars!
It was all really easy to make!!! No cravings afterwards, and no desire to over eat! Just enjoyable yumminess!
