Time for a DAY OFF!

When my husband told me he was taking a day off on Monday, I decided I needed a day off, too. I blocked out my calendar and enjoyed a wonderful day of picture taking and just being carefree! We live in a society where we are pressed to make every minute count. What we forget to do is take time for ourselves. When we take time for ourselves, we are more productive when working. What have you done lately to rejuvenate? Taking some time off allows for new creative thoughts to flow!

How do you Rejuvenate?

Sometimes it’s important to to do something that relaxes you, while other times it works to do something exciting. The day started out with a strong winds advisory and high surf advisory. We jumped in the truck and drove to a popular spot affectionately known as “The Wedge”.

It’s actually the Jetty in Newport Beach. We stood there and enjoyed the high surf crashing from 2 different directions.

Then we noticed a sail boat trying to come into the marina… it was miraculous he was able to find his way amid the winds and surf! I honestly don’t know how he managed!

Are you neglecting YOU?

I hope I have inspired you to take some time away from your work. I know as entrepreneurs, we can be so focused on our business that we feel if we take some time off that something will be neglected. If you don’t take a break YOU will be the one neglected! When will your day off be?

For those familiar with energy healing, after a session, you feel like you’ve had a day off, but you’ve only taken an hour off! Many people report the increased clarity they enjoy and the peaceful feeling they have. 1. So glad you were able to take some time out for yourself. I should take some time off next week and regroup.

  2. I love the ocean. I go back to see it every time I’m in California. I love Tucson and the desert but I still miss the water.

  3. I often remind people of just that, yes other things are important, but if you don’t take time for you… you won’t be there to take care of the important things.

  4. My friend was just up from Tucson. He’s driving to Las Vegas. He is on ‘constant day off’. He is bored out of his mind, and said he doesn’t know what to do for the next 20 years! The moral of the story is this: Work hard and then when you do get a day off, you really appreciate it!!

  5. Taking time off is essential. Since I’ve just started a new job here in Florida, I have to guard my vacation time pretty well. Yet I still take time for myself, usually in the mornings before everyone gets up, when I can just relax, have some coffee, and start my day nice and easy.

    Great advice!

  6. You have to make time for yourself or you will go nuts, we actually took about a month off at the end of Jan beginning of Feb and rented a private home in Cape Coral Florida, and it was great because I broke my back this past year and it is not healing well and the pool was a lifesaver, swam everyday and it felt good.

  7. It is often downplayed, but absolutely essential that we recharge our own internal energy stores if we want to continue to give and help others.

Like the gas tank in a car, if we don’t refill our energy regularly, eventually we’ll run out, having nothing left to give. So taking time off really is in the best interest for ourselves as well as for all those whom we want to continue to help.

  8. I love getting away. My husband and I will be making a trip back to Honolulu, Hawaii soon. I always come back refreshed and relaxed.

  9. Thanks for the great post. People don’t realize that they will be a much better person to others as well as themselves when they take the time to renew and refresh themselves!

  10. What a great idea! I need to take a day off here and there! Thanks for the suggestion!

  11. What a great idea! I can’t take the entire day, but I plan to go to the county fair this afternoon! It’s an opportunity for this city girl to see real cows and goats and chickens and sheep! Takes my mind off the customers and the business for a few hours!

  12. That sounds like a wonderful day. When Ben and I need a day break we jump on the Harley and just ride somewhere. It doesn’t really matter where, just that we are riding. If it wasn’t rainy today I would ask if he wants to skip work and go for a ride!

  13. Wonderful advice and reminder about taking a day off, especially for the self employed who often forget ! A day out enjoying the fresh sea-air is especially lovely, sounds like you had a refreshing day !

  14. My husband and I used to request a personal day to spend together when we worked 9-5 jobs. I used to keep my sons home from daycare individually every now and then for what we called a “special day.” Now the kids are in grade school, and my hubby and I both teach full-time, and we can’t take days off because we’ll let too many people down. I still take time off for myself pretty regularly, but I have to figure out a way we can schedule time with my husband again. What a wonderful day you and your husband spent together! Inspiring. Thank you for sharing it.

  15. I always make time for a day off here and there, or just zone out when i need to refresh and regroup.. Glad you had a nice day off!!
